Hello Everyone,
I’m Deborah Del Duca, Chief Executive Officer for Girl Guides of Canada. I am very privileged to be attending my second World conference. My first World experience was in Jordan in 2005, and I found it somewhat overwhelming, as well as rewarding and very enriching. This opportunity enables the delegation, on your behalf, to meet and share the experiences of Guiding members from around the world… There is an incredibly wonderful friendship as one reconnects with an international Guiding friend. You know the feeling; it’s like you saw each other last week, even though it has been years since you actually saw each other in person!
Our delegation will be attending the various business meetings as well as professional development sessions. We learn so much to bring back to Canada, through the formal program as well as via the informal networking that happens throughout the program. On behalf of GGC, I responded to the call for papers, and was very pleased to be accepted. So not only will I be a delegate, but I will also be a workshop presenter. Together with Chris Burton, we will be providing a session on Marketing our Movement, where will demonstrate the background and results of our past two years of marketing strategies and resources.
Although I am not particularly looking forward to the two long flights totally more than 20 hours of actual air time (I’m traveling from Toronto to Abu Dhabi, then Abu Dhabi to Johannesburg), I am really excited to experience South Africa. I have been doing lots of reading and watching of films to gain some insight to the culture, geography, foods and wildlife which I hope to experience.
The delegation will be keeping you posted.
